It was one great day of my career when I got the opportunity to talk with David Ngo, Head of Product & Engineering for Metallic, a newly launched Commvault venture, in Denver, Colorado.
We conversed about the Commvault GO 2019 event, the journey of creating a Start-Up within an existing global leading Data Protection brand, the launch of Metallic at Commvault GO, the three initial key offerings from Metallic, and the future direction for it. We also conferred SaaS backup and recovery solutions, Compliance, Governance, Data Protection, Insights, Analytics, Prediction, GDPR, API’s, and David conveyed insights as to where things are headed in the future for Metallic in the world of SasS based data protection, recovery, SaaS cloud backup, and trends and insights around Cloud, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Containers, 5G, IoT and plenty more.
In the opening of the meet, Dez firstly congratulates David for both the launch of metallic and how amazing the product is and how we really enjoyed the keynote.
Going further, Dez asked David to give us an outline of some of the use cases around and walk us through the cloud applications’ initial use cases.
David also shared his thoughts on how SAS plus give the scale or the capability to introduce local storage for scale as a real backup target, so it’s not a cache it’s not a temporary landing spot; it is a real backup target you don’t get any faster than that yeah and so scalability is basically limitless based on combat capability.
While concluding, David Ngo stated that their company is going to listen to the customers and really keep a finger on the pulse of the industry to see what’s important to them, what is most popular and really have measured steps and bringing our technology out
in the SAS form so they can ensure that you know the experiences is great with our new offerings as it is with the original ones.
