I caught up with William Hawkins, Principal Consultant for Enterprise Data Solutions Inc. in Denver, Colorado, to talk about the Commvault GO 2019 event we were both attending at the time as guests of Commvault.
We kicked off with a brief outline of his background and his time at Commvault and, in particular, his experience since he moved into Enterprise Data Solutions (EDS), which has been the last eight and a half years of his Commvault journey.
We further discussed several topics:
- Security challenges around Data Protection, i.e, Data Protection And Security.
- EDS’s approach to Hardening the environments upon which Commvault is deployed.
- The recent Cambrian explosion of Ransomware, etc.
William shares an excellent, detailed “State-Sponsored” anecdote around foreign “bad actors” using a home WIFI penetration to obtain control of an enterprise SOE laptop to inject malware to then breach an enterprise network (literally the stuff of a spy novel!).
I get William to share his thoughts on how EDS’s approach to Hardening the foundation/platform (s) / and operating system(s) Commvault solutions & products are deployed onto within either on client hardware or VM’s or private, public, community or hybrid cloud platforms, the numerous Commvault tools & scripts.
William also shares vital tips you can act on in your own organisation and many other key insights and takeaways from the Commvault GO 2019 event.
